Madeleine’s Kitchen was set up in 2011 in Antonia’s kitchen at Nyewood, Hampshire. We, that is Kathryn & Antonia, had been deliberating for a couple of years as to what we might fill our time with whilst looking after the seven children we have between us and both having a background in hospitality, events and catering decided that was the way to go. We thought it might be a good idea to make cakes and soups to supply local shops and to sell directly to friends and neighbours. That seemed to work. We then developed an online deli whereby customers would order from a weekly menu and we would prepare and deliver their food to them. That also worked. It then seemed obvious that we should have a real-life deli which we duly set up in Lavant Street, Petersfield. We packed this with our own homecooked goodies plus foodstuffs from Britain and overseas and put in a couple of tables. We also sold extremely good coffee.
Kathryn’s kitchen soon became overloaded and we acquired a unit in Steep Marsh into which we installed a kitchen and an amazing team of cooks to keep up with demand. Our dear little deli, beautiful as it was, became too small to cope with our stock and customers so after four years we moved a couple of doors up the road to No. 18a. We now have seating for 25 and a wonderful venue for our loyal and splendid customers.
We take great care to produce deliciously tasty traditional and unusual food made with good ingredients. Our coffee is second to none and our exceptional staff, many of whom have been with us from the beginning, will ensure you are well and truly taken care of.
